I shared a story from Apple News today here on my blog. Usually when I do this I'll expand the apple.news URL into the publication's canonical URL for posting. Normal this works fine. For this article it did not. It appears that this Scientific American story is only available through the Apple News app. This is concerning. I don't like articles like this being isolated from the web. Hopefully this is just an exclusivity period or something and it'll show up on Scientific American's website at some point in the future.

I hope Shortcuts adds more actions for Apple Notes.

We finished watching Russian Doll last night. We binged the entire season in 2 nights, it was a great show. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something interesting to watch.

Played a lot of Mario Kart today.

This post should have a title, generated by looking for the first heading line.

This post was generated using the same shortcut, but this time using a markdown file instead of just text.

With any luck, this will post to my blog as a status update, with formatting intact!

What if the recounts in Florida show the Republicans winning? Are people supposed to trust it?

RIP Stan Lee

The hard drive in my Windows machine that died and that I thought was the drive holding the OS actually wasn’t. It turns out, the surviving drive is the one with the OS, but the drive that failed had the boot record on it which is why I was unable to boot.

I was able to determine this by downloading the Windows 10 USB installer, booting up with that and inspecting the surviving drive. I managed to restore the boot information and boot successfully into Windows 10.

This is a relief. All that was on the other drive was game installs, most of which I can reinstall by downloading them from Steam or similar cloud libraries.

So I figure Apple will release a smaller version of the iPhone XR next year.

This is despicable. If you can’t, or refuse to answer reporters’ questions, you don’t deserve to govern https://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/as-it-happens-thursday-edition-1.4779154/unprecedented-staffers...

This is a great post, perfectly describes the problems with the modern web. https://pxlnv.com/blog/bullshit-web

Heading out to see Ocean's 8.

I also love the 2016 MacBook keyboard, whenever I go back to the previous version, it feels mushy to me.
