Google finally matching in-store purchases to online activity, vastly raising value of ads | Android Central

I'm guessing this'll be tied to Android Pay, so that every purchase you make will be checked against the ads you saw recently to see if they were related to your purchase.

I feel like this is going too far. Just feels creepy to me.

Theresa May to create new internet that would be controlled and regulated by government | The Independent

"The manifesto makes reference to those increased powers, saying that the government will work even harder to ensure there is no "safe space for terrorists to be able to communicate online"."

Can also be read as "no safe space for anyone to be able to communicate online".

"The laws would also force technology companies to delete anything that a person posted when they were under 18."

How, how? What if those people don't want their stuff deleted? What if it is self-hosted? This whole thing seems to assume the internet is Google and Facebook.

Bottom line is, this won't impact anyone who wants to have private communications, and will greatly disadvantage everyone else, making communcaitons less secure and placing ridiculous burdens companies operating on the internet.
